Our organization relies on a dedicated network of hard-working volunteers committed to advancing our mission of rescuing injured, orphaned, and sick wildlife. We offer two primary volunteer opportunities, allowing you to choose the role that best suits your skills and interests:
- Wildlife Rescue Volunteers:
This role provides the unique opportunity to directly engage with Florida's diverse ecosystems by rescuing and transporting wildlife to licensed rehabilitators or veterinarians. As a Wildlife Rescuer, you’ll create lasting memories of the animals you save and the places you visit, all while playing a vital role in their recovery journey.
This is an on-call and off-site role that requires use of your own vehicle. - Care Team Volunteers:
For those who prefer on-site involvement, our Care Team offers hands-on opportunities to work with wildlife*. This includes tasks such as preparing diets, feeding animals, cleaning enclosures, and assisting with the daily care of animals at our facility. It's a rewarding way to support wildlife rehabilitation and make a direct impact.
PLEASE NOTE: ON-SITE VOLUNTEERS OPERATE OUTSIDE OF OUR POSTED BUSINESS HOURS.
If neither of these roles is the right fit, that’s okay! Every task at ROW, from bookkeeping to fundraising to community event participation, is handled by individuals who share our passion for wildlife conservation. Ask us for more information on support roles.
Requirements:
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Possess a valid driver’s license, car insurance, and reliable transportation if you’re applying for a Wildlife Rescue Volunteer role.
- Commit to at least one day per week (Monday-Saturday) of volunteering. We rely on our volunteers just like we would any paid staff!
- Exhibit a genuine love for Florida’s wildlife and a willingness to learn how to work with various species.
Whether you’re rescuing animals in the field or caring for them on-site, you’ll be part of a dedicated team making a meaningful difference in the lives of Florida’s wildlife.
